History of Jefferson Insurance

This company was founded in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1905 under the name of the Lincoln National Life Insurance Company. This name was chosen due to the founder’s need to portray their business philosophy, which was a strong and honest company. The company petitioned Robert Todd Lincoln, the last living son of the former President Abraham Lincoln, for permission to use the Lincoln name as well as Abraham Lincoln’s image.
